Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19

Dear Northside Family and Friends,

Regathering Plans
Based on the most recent guidance from both Governor Holcomb and Mayor Hogsett, we are prayerfully planning on resuming in-person gatherings beginning on Sunday, June 7th. We want to stress that this plan is based on the most recent guidance from local and state officials. This guidance may change, which would prompt us to reevaluate our plans. Although the Governor has stated that, on June 1st, Marion County will be eligible to move into Stage 3 of the reopening plan, Mayor Hogsett has not yet announced if Marion County will actually take that step. So, Lord-willing, if we are permitted to safely meet, we are planning on resuming only our worship gatherings. Additionally, we are not planning on offering childcare during these initial gatherings. The Sunday School hour and Children’s Ministry will resume at a later time. We will provide more details on what safety measures we will take when we reopen. In the meantime, we will continue to broadcast the livestreams of our worship services on May 24th and 31st. After our gatherings recommence, we will continue to offer the livestreams for those who are unable to attend. In summary, we are hoping to recommence our gathering on June 7th and we ask you to pray to this end.

Next Devotional
It has been a joy for Nate and John to bring you the daily devotionals on the Facebook group page. We are about to conclude our walk through the Easter Code Devotional by O.S. Hawkins. We are happy to tell you that our next devotional is called 365 Days with Newton.

This devotional will lead us through the writings of John Newton, an English pastor who lived from 1725-1807. He is most known for penning the hymn “Amazing Grace”, but his lesser known sermons and hymns are equally edifying for Christians today. Each day, the devotional will guide us through a selection of his writings, with accompanying Scripture readings and selected hymns for meditation. While you are welcome to purchase a copy for yourself, it is not necessary. We invite you to simply tune in to the daily readings as John and Nate lead you through them.

We encourage you to continue to connect with each other on the Facebook group page or over the phone. We encourage you to pray 1 Thess. 3:11-13 for each other: “Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you. And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another and for everyone, just as we do for you. May he make your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. Amen.”

In Christ,

Your Elders (Mike Bowman, John Reeder, Dennis Brooks, Jim Moran, and Nate Brock)
