Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19
Dear Northside Family and Friends,
As always, we trust that this update finds you doing well and resting the Lord’s kindness today.
Update from Search Committee
One of the gatherings we have missed is our Member’s Meeting. We miss the time of fellowship and updates from various ministry leaders at Northside. For the better part of the last year, we have enjoyed regular updates from the Pastor Search Team. We have missed those updates, so we asked Dennis Brooks, one of our elders and chairman of the Search Team, to provide us a brief update. He sent us the following, “We are happy to report that the search team continues to meet on a regular basis seeking God’s man to be our next senior pastor. The team appreciates your prayers.” We invite you to continue to pray for these faithful men and women.
Children’s Ministry Summer Plans
After much thought and prayer, we have decided that it is in the best interest of our community and our church to cancel our traditional VBS and instead pursue alternate, VBS-like children’s ministry programming to take place in August or September. While we are still working through the specifics, we envision a once-a-week meetings for four weeks where children from our church and community can come and learn about Jesus in a fun and welcoming environment. With so many unknowns as we go into the summer, we are placing a high value on flexibility. We believe this format would give us that flexibility. Please pray for the children’s ministry leaders and the VBS team as they begin planning this programming.
Future Meeting plans
In regard to “reopening” the church, we are developing plans and policies to guide our gatherings whenever they begin again. We are aiming to implement social distancing measures such as one-way traffic in and out of gathering spaces, discouraging hand shaking, etc… Although we have not yet determined when our first gathering will be, we can say for certain that we are planning on holding our services virtually via the livestream on the Facebook page for at least the next two Sundays (May 17th and 24th). We are awaiting further guidance from the Mayor’s office.
We encourage you to continue to stay connected with each other via phone calls, texts, or brief drive-bys. Connect with each other on the Facebook group page. We encourage you to pray 1 Thess. 3:11-13 for each other: “Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you. And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another and for everyone, just as we do for you. May he make your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. Amen.”
