Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19

Dear Northside Family and Friends,

We are several weeks into this new and, we pray, temporary “normal”. Many of you are staying home and only venturing out for essential needs. Some of you have been classified as essential workers and are still heading into work, while taking necessary precautions. Wherever you are, we are praying for you. We are praying that God will be near to you and will give you courage and freedom from anxiety in these days.
We as elders have taken some steps to keep you updated of the decisions and plans that we are making concerning what ministry for our Northside family will look like in the immediate future. We have been meeting over conference call at least once a week and communicating with each other throughout the week. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and/or concerns.
The Governor’s Stay-at-Home Executive order is in place until April 7th. There are signs that this order may be extended further but have received no confirmation of that. We are still working under the assumption that we will not be able to safely meet together on Easter morning. In light of this, we have decided that our next churchwide daily devotional will be based on The Easter Code, a 40-day devotional by O.S. Hawkins. Although it is designed to end on Easter, we are modifying it for our purposes. We will start reading it together on Monday, April 13th, the Monday after Easter. We will base our daily Facebook live devotionals on this study. You can order a copy either at the Lifeway website (here) or through Amazon (here). Order now so that you will receive it in time. We have a limited supply available for those that are not able to purchase it online. For Holy Week (April 5th-12th), we will follow a devotional that will lead us through our Lord’s last week before his crucifixion. Stay tuned for that on the Facebook page as well.
You should also plan on joining us on future Sunday day mornings at 10:30 am for a live streamed worship service. We will continue to provide these for you as we are able or until this crisis passes.
One final note: some of you have asked how to submit prayer requests to the church. The two best ways to do this are through our website or on the Facebook page. On our website, hover over the Ministries Tab at the top of the page and click on Prayer. Then click on the orange Prayer Request button at the top of the page. On the next screen, you can enter your prayer request. On our Facebook page, you can post your prayer request by clicking on the Prayer Request tab on the top right of the screen. Post your prayer request to that page. Keep in mind when you post public prayer requests on behalf of others, make sure you have the consent of that person if you are posting sensitive personal or medical information.
We are eagerly looking forward to the day when we can come together again to celebrate our unity as the church of Jesus Christ together. Praise God for his many blessings!

In Christ,

Your Elders
