Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19

Dear Northside Family and Friends,

It has been a joy to recommence our gatherings with some of you. We are continuing to pray for those of you who are unable to attend at this time and hope that you will be able to join us soon.

Some of you asked us why we skipped an update last week (June 21-27). The short answer is that we simply didn’t have anything on which to update you. Moving forward, we will continue to provide updates when necessary given our circumstances.
Continued Reopening Plan
On June 14th and 28th, your elders met with the leaders of our various Northside ministries and groups to discuss a plan to reopen the facility for use by these groups. Out of those meetings, we are happy to announce that, starting on Monday, July 13th, the church facility will be open for these small groups and ministries to use (this includes small groups, life groups, Bible Studies, etc…). These on-site gatherings will be permitted to move forward as long as they adhere to some policies that will help us participate in slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

These policies are 1) new maximum rooms capacities, 2) mandatory face coverings, and 3) social distancing. These policies are based on local and state recommendations and requirements. Some classes may be asked to temporarily move to a new space because of their size. More details will be shared with class leaders soon, who will in turn communicate to their classes. These temporary policies will be in place as long as our local officials require and encourage these policies. As the situation continues to evolve, we will constantly evaluate in an effort to determine when we will relax some of these policies.
Recent Marion County Public Health Order
Earlier today, Mayor Hogsett announced that Marion County will enter Phase 4.5 of Gov. Holcomb’s reopening plan on July 9th. In addition to the Governor’s plan (viewable here), the Mayor has chosen to impose additional policies in Indianapolis. These are outlined in Public Health Order 20-2020. Churches will be permitted to gather at 100% capacity, but face coverings or masks and social distancing are still required. In fact, the Mayor’s most recent order represents a strengthening the face covering requirement. This new order goes into effect on July 9th, but, based on previous orders, face coverings are still required for our worship gatherings.
We invite everyone to join us for our worship service at 10:30 am every Sunday morning, either in person or via the Facebook group page (also streamed on the website). Please feel free to reach out to us as your elders with any questions or concerns you may have. Stay connected with us and each other via the Facebook group page and website. We remain sure that the Lord’s is on His throne and He will work all things together for the good of His people.

In Christ,

Your Elders (Mike Bowman, John Reeder, Dennis Brooks, Jim Moran, and Nate Brock)
