Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19

Dear Northside Family and Friends,

We have been encouraged to hear that many of you are staying connected with one another. Most, if not all, of our various groups are finding creative and meaningful ways to stay connected. We have heard of conference phone calls, drive-by hellos, and Zoom meetings. We are so thankful that the Lord has provided us with these means to connect. You are invited to join us online on the Facebook group page or website. We continue to pray for you individually by name as we think of you throughout the week.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)

Αre you in need?

We are acutely aware there are people in our local community who find themselves in a time of need, perhaps because of a job loss or sickness. These needs may even be found in our own congregation. If you are part of the Northside family and you find yourself in financial, emotional, or spiritual need as a result of this pandemic, we encourage you to reach out to us. If you have lost your job and need help, please let us know. You can email the pastors at or

Our source of guidance
We expect that we will receive further guidance on what “reopening” looks like. From all available sources, it appears that the reopening will take place in phases. It is yet to be determined what that will look like for Northside. As we await this guidance, we want to remind you that we have chosen to base our decisions on the guidance we receive from particular officials. As a church in Marion County, we will lean most heavily on the guidance provided by our local officials. Marion County is the epicenter of the pandemic in Indiana, so the reopening will look different.

Congregational Survey
We the elders want to hear your thoughts and feelings about what reopening look like. To that end, we will be sending out a short survey for our members and regular attenders to complete. This survey includes several questions about your current feelings about returning to regular church activities when local government lifts its ban on public gatherings. The survey will be sent out next week (week of May 3rd) through our email database, so please make sure that we have your correct email.

We encourage you to bring all your request to God through prayer. “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)

In Christ,

Your Elders (Mike Bowman, John Reeder, Dennis Brooks, Jim Moran, and Nate Brock)
