Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19

Dear Northside Family and Friends,

As you may have heard, on April 1st, Mayor Hogsett extended the Governor’s stay-at-home order for Marion County through May 1st, 2020. We have been planning with this possible extension in view, so we are not surprised. But we are nonetheless grieved that we cannot join together as a body to worship in one place. We feel what the Apostle Paul felt in 1 Thessalonians 2:17, “But as for us, brothers and sisters, after we were forced to leave you for a short time (in person, not in heart), we greatly desired and made every effort to return and see you face to face.” In light of the Mayor’s order, we are suspending all on-campus church activities and gatherings until at least May 1st. We are eagerly looking forward to our first time back together, hopefully sometime in May. All the links listed below will also be posted to our website and Facebook group page.

Sunday Morning Livestreams (Sundays at 10:30 am)
Until that time, we will continue to proclaim the Word to you, in preaching, in singing, and in prayer. We invite you to plan on joining our worship livestreams every Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

Maundy Thursday Livestream (Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 pm)
With Holy Week and Easter upon us, we are happy to announce that we will be holding a livestream of a Maundy Thursday service. This is to give you an opportunity in your homes to meditate on the death of Christ in preparation for Resurrection Sunday. You are invited to join the Maundy Thursday stream at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 9th.

SBC Day of Prayer (Good Friday, April 10 at 1 pm, EST)
As a church in cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention, we invite you to join an online prayer gathering hosted by the SBC. It will be a time of focused prayer amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. The format will include times of Scripture reading and focused prayer to address specific needs related to the pandemic. All Southern Baptists are invited. You may join the stream this link: sbc.net/pray. You may also join on the SBC Executive Committee Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SBCExecComm/.

Daily Devotional Livestream (Monday thru Friday at 2 pm)
We have received some very good feedback about the daily livestreamed devotionals. We are making every effort to continue these during the coming weeks. You are invited to join our daily devotional at 2 pm on our Facebook page.

During Holy Week (Sunday, April 5th to Sunday, April 12th), we will walk this 7-day reading plan which will guide us through some of the critical moments in Scripture leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection. You can find a link to the devotional here: https://csbible.com/holy-week/.

After Easter, starting on Monday, April 13th, we will begin our daily readings from The Easter Code by O.S. Hawkins. You can order a copy either at the Lifeway website (here) or through Amazon (here). Order now so that you will receive it in time. We have a limited supply available for those that are not able to purchase it online.

We trust that the Lord is using this time for His glory, so we seek to join Him in that mission.

In Christ,

Your Elders
