Update from the Elders Regarding COVID-19

Dear Northside Family and Friends,

By this time, many of you are settling into this new normal. We are becoming very familiar with new activities like refraining from handshaking and hugs, suspending large gatherings, and learning new technologies like Zoom or FaceTime. In the midst of all this change, we have also seen some encouraging and helpful things rise to the top. Among these, we have been reminded of the value of the embodied gathering of God’s people. Our physical gathering is important, and we no longer take a handshake for granted! Although we rejoice that we have the knowledge that we are together in spirit by praying and contacting one another, we eagerly await the day in which we will gather together once again.
We have no changes to report to our current plan of action. All on-campus church activities and gatherings have been suspended at least through May 1st, 2020. Our one exception is Covenant Foods, our food pantry ministry to the community. The food pantry volunteer team has significantly altered the process to ensure that people are still getting the food they need. In order to maintain the interim recommended standards of social interaction, they have reduced their staffing to a bare minimum and have instructed remaining volunteers to use personal protective equipment. With all these changes, they have still served over 90 families and counting in the past month! Thank you for your support of this ministry and we invite you to continue to pray for the team as they minster to our community during this time of severe need.
We encourage all of you to stay connected to the church through these means:
Sunday Morning Livestreams (Sundays at 10:30 am)
During this time, we will continue to proclaim the Word to you, in preaching, in singing, and in prayer. We invite you to plan on joining our worship livestreams every Sunday morning at 10:30 am.
Easter Morning Livestream (April 12th at 10:30 am)
Join us online on the Facebook page as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!
Daily Devotional Livestream (Monday thru Friday at 2 pm)
You are invited to join our daily devotional at 2 pm on our Facebook page. Starting on Monday, April 13th, we will begin our daily readings from The Easter Code by O.S. Hawkins. You can order a copy either at the Lifeway website (here) or through Amazon (here). Order now so that you will receive it in time. We have a limited supply available for those that are not able to purchase it online.
Continue to stay up to date with the latest health and government recommendations by consulting the CDC, the Indiana State Board of Health, the Governor of Indiana’s office and the Mayor of Indianapolis’s office.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would just simply like to talk with one of our elders, you may reach out to any one of us. You can find contact information on the website, through our online directory (, or by requesting contact on Facebook.
We love you and praying for you.

In Christ,

Your Elders (Mike Bowman, John Reeder, Dennis Brooks, Jim Moran, and Nate Brock)
